In the dead of night, they come.... those stalky creeping curlews. Silent and sleeping in the day. Come nightfall, their sorrowful wail rips through the silence....escalating to a crescendo of hysteria. Good luck sleeping through that!

Want to make a statement to help protect Australia's top apex predator that has been here for 1000s of years? A key player in keeping our Australian ecosystem in balance; this much maligned species is slowly getting the recognition is deserves. Many farmers are adopting new practices to coexist with dingoes. Why when these guys lazily loll on by do I feel like I'm being visited by dinosaurs? Maybe because birds ARE descendants dinosaurs, but somehow I feel like out of all of our Australian birds they are the most ancient of souls .... you can really sense their age. Their casual prehistoric call from high in the tree tops resonates as they crack nuts with their huge hardy beaks.

"Dusk"
Bush Stone-Curlews
As night falls the sun blazes across the sky with a last burst of rich & moody colours. Sleeping curlews lift their weary eyelids to embrace the night. It won't be long before they skulk and creep about ....wailing a sorrowful cry that crescendos to an almighty chilling pitch.
The Green Team
Green ants...the epitome of teamwork! They use the silk from their own larva to glue & stitch their nests together. (No larvae is harmed in this exercise.) ; ) They keep herbivores away from the tree they are dwelling in so are friends and protectors of the tree. What a lovely friendship and symbiotic community.
